Each year, the United States Children’s Bureau honors leading organizations, families, and individuals with the Adoption Excellence Awards. The goal of these awards is to “recognize outstanding accomplishments in achieving permanency for America’s children waiting in foster care.”
The Adoption Exchange is incredibly proud to announce that this year our very own Tim Wieland has been honored with the Award for Excellence in Media/Social Media/Public Awareness of Adoption from Foster Care.
Tim has served as a valuable member of The Adoption Exchange’s Board of Directors since 2013. In addition to his service on the Board, Tim has been a champion in leading The Adoption Exchange’s partnership with CBS4 KCNC in Denver, CO. For more than 30 years, this partnership has actively worked to feature a child or sibling group in need of an adoptive family during the newscasts on Wednesday of each week. These segments provide community awareness about the need for adoption from foster care and help The Adoption Exchange to find families for waiting children who have survived abuse and neglect.
More than 66% of children featured in CBS4’s Wednesday’s Child segments find permanent, loving, and stable homes. As News Director at KCNC CBS4, Tim has played an enormous role in achieving this success rate. However, Tim vigorously supports The Adoption Exchange’s goal of creating a world where no child has to wait in foster care, and he continues to work tirelessly to find families for the children who are still waiting.
On behalf of all of us at The Adoption Exchange, we applaud the Adoption Excellence Awards for recognizing Tim Wieland’s remarkable impact and we thank Tim for his years of service and continued commitment creating a world where every waiting child will find a permanent family.
